• OAuth Data: If you sign in via Google, GitHub, or ORCID, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from the provider.
• Research Data: Articles, search results, and documents you upload or generate within the Platform.
• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, credits consumed, and general analytics.
• Payment Data: Billing information is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number.

2. How We Use Your Data

We collect and use your data and cookies to provide the service and to improve your experience. We may keep user data for feature improvement, product development, and service optimization.

• To provide and improve the BioClaritas service.
• To process payments and manage your account.
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing receipts).
• To send product updates (you can opt out at any time).
• To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse.

3. Automated Data Processing

When you use automated features (screening, data extraction, illustration generation, etc.), your data is sent to third-party Automated providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) for processing. These providers:

• Do not use your data to train their models (per their data processing agreements).
• Process data transiently and do not retain it beyond the API call.
• Are bound by their own privacy policies and data handling standards.

4. Data Sharing

We do not expose your data or share it without your consent. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

• Automated API Providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) — to process your requests.
• Stripe — to process payments.
• Law Enforcement — if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use encryption for data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest for sensitive fields. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We implement rate limiting, audit logging, and access controls to protect your account.

6. Your Responsibility for Your Data

We collect and process your data only as permitted by law and this policy. Your personal data and confidential research work are your responsibility to protect. It is up to you to decide what to share on the Platform and what to keep private. You are responsible for complying with any applicable laws or institutional policies regarding the handling of research or personal data.

7. No Liability for Security Incidents

In the event of hacking, data leakage, unauthorized access, or any security vulnerability, BioClaritas is not legally responsible. We do not guarantee that the Platform or any transmission or storage of data will be secure or free from defects. You use the Platform at your own risk. You decide what to share; we are not liable for any loss, damage, or claim arising from such incidents, and you may not hold us responsible or bring any claim or suit against us in respect of them.

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and research data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or billing purposes.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and download your data.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent for data processing.
• Object to certain processing activities.
