Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account on BioClaritas ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our Responsible Automated Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Account Registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use BioClaritas.

3. Service Description

BioClaritas is a research automation platform that assists with systematic reviews, meta-analyses, data extraction, causal pathway analysis, and scientific illustration generation. The Platform uses third-party Automated models (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) to process your data. Outputs are generated by Automated and should always be reviewed and validated by human experts.

4. Credits & Billing

• Free Credits: New users receive 100 free credits upon registration. Free credits may expire after 90 days.
• Purchases: Additional credits can be purchased as one-time packs or via recurring subscription plans. Prices are displayed prior to purchase and charged in USD.
• Subscriptions: Subscription plans auto-renew at the billing interval (monthly or yearly) until cancelled. You authorize BioClaritas to charge your payment method automatically at each renewal. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds: Purchases are generally non-refundable. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days.
• Credit Expiration: Purchased credits may have an expiration period as indicated at the time of purchase. Expired credits cannot be recovered.

5. Responsible Automated Use

You agree to adhere to the Responsible Automated in Evidence Synthesis (RAISE) guidelines when using BioClaritas for research purposes. Specifically:

• You are ultimately responsible for the accuracy and quality of your evidence synthesis.
• You must validate that any Automated-generated outputs are correct and appropriate before using them.
• You must transparently report all Automated tool use in your manuscripts and publications.
• You must ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards in your jurisdiction.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all data you upload and all outputs generated from your data. BioClaritas does not claim ownership of your research, illustrations, or any content you create. You grant BioClaritas a limited license to process your data solely for providing the service.

6a. Publication and Irreversibility

When you publish content through the Platform — whether as peer-reviewed or non–peer-reviewed — that publication cannot be undone. We make published content public. In special cases you may request the editor or BioClaritas to release updates or modifications to published content; any such change is at the sole discretion of the editor and BioClaritas, and we are not obliged to grant such requests.

7. Data & Privacy

Your data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data. Research data may be sent to third-party Automated providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) for processing — these providers operate under their own data-processing agreements and do not use your data for model training.

8. Prohibited Uses

• Using the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempting to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the Platform's APIs.
• Sharing account credentials or reselling credits.
• Generating or distributing misleading, fabricated, or fraudulent research outputs.
• Using automated bots to interact with the Platform without authorization.

9. Limitation of Liability

BioClaritas is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to errors in generated outputs, data loss, or service interruptions. You are solely responsible for verifying all outputs before publication or clinical use.

We are not legally responsible for hacking, data leakage, unauthorized access, security vulnerabilities, or any breach of data. You use the Platform at your own risk. You decide what data to share; we do not guarantee the security or integrity of the Platform or any data. You may not hold BioClaritas liable or bring any claim or suit against us in respect of such incidents or any other possible vulnerability. Our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your credits are forfeited and your data may be deleted after a grace period.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
